How the exchange works

A straight walkthrough of buying, selling and shipping on Repurpose Exchange — and what happens to equipment that can't be resold.

For buyers

Buying equipment

  1. Browse the marketplace

    Filter by category, manufacturer, condition, location, fulfillment and price. Every listing shows the quantity available, what one purchase actually is — a unit, a lot, a pallet or a spool — and where it ships from.

  2. Buy online or request a quote

    Fixed-price listings can be added to the cart and checked out immediately. Larger commercial lots can be bought the same way, or you can request a formal quote and reserve the lot while you review it.

  3. Check out securely

    Card payments are processed by Stripe. Parcel shipping is rated at checkout; freight shipments are quoted separately before you pay.

  4. Delivery and inspection

    Once the equipment arrives you can inspect the order and confirm it matches the listing.

Selling or consigning equipment

    Share make, model, quantity, condition, location and photos through the submission form.

  2. We review the opportunity

    Our team reviews the submission, checks the details, and assesses resale demand for that equipment.

  3. We agree the right path

    Outright purchase, a managed marketplace listing, or consignment — we come back to you with terms before anything goes live.

  4. It goes to market

    The equipment is listed and shown to buyers searching that category. Buyer questions are routed through us.

  5. Sale and settlement

    When the equipment sells we confirm the sale with you and settle on the terms agreed during review.

  6. Logistics coordinated

    Pickup, packaging, freight and delivery can be coordinated where needed, or you can ship directly.

Common questions

How buying works

Every listing is fixed price. Most can be added to the cart and paid for by card through Stripe. Larger commercial lots can also be bought outright, but you can instead request a formal quote and reserve the lot — we confirm availability, hold it while you review, and issue an invoice you can settle by card, ACH or wire. Every price on this marketplace is a fixed price.

What we check before a listing goes live

Equipment submitted through the sell form is reviewed by our team before any terms are agreed — we check the details and come back to you. A listing then has to pass an automated catalog check before it can be published: a title, a real manufacturer (never “Unknown”), a model or part number where the equipment type calls for one, at least one photograph, a fulfillment method, and enough stock on hand to meet its own minimum order. A listing that fails any of those cannot be published.

Lots, pallets and spools

Some equipment is sold as a bundle rather than one item at a time. Where that is the case the listing says so explicitly: the price is shown per lot, per pallet or per spool, the quantity is counted in those same units, and the number of items inside is stated along with the effective price per item. A lot is sold complete — the contents are not split.

Shipping and freight

Smaller items are rated as parcel shipments at checkout. Pallets and larger lots move by LTL freight, quoted case by case based on pallet count, weight, distance, and whether a liftgate or forklift is needed. Freight quotes are provided before payment, not estimated automatically.

Payments

Card payments are processed by Stripe. Repurpose Exchange does not see or store your card details. We do not operate an escrow service — payment is taken at checkout and the order is then confirmed and scheduled by our team.

Damaged and non-resalable equipment

Not all equipment is fit for resale. Damaged, non-functional or heavily worn equipment can be routed to our sister company, Repurpose Solar, with recycling coordinated in accordance with applicable federal, state and local requirements, and documentation provided to the seller.
